Luscious lips! |
I turn two TOMORROW!! Can you believe it? We are having a party at the wading pool next weekend with 30 of my/mommy's friends. Summer started a little early in Seattle and I'm loving it! I've got World Cup ("GOOLLLLLLLLLL!!") fever, I'm swimming like a fish, and I love playing outside. We went to Seafood Fest in Ballard today and I got to eat Hawaiian Shaved Ice, go down the Super Slide and get a tattoo! It was great but it was a little hot so we didn't stay long.

23 month development
I'm repeating lots of words now and telling mommy and daddy "Uh-oh broke" when something breaks or "More please" when I want more steak before daddy eats it all. Two-word phrases are also popping up, "All done", "Go pool", "My book", "My shoes" and "My car" to name a few. We're still working on saying "Thank you" but I do know "Sorry" as I sometimes get excited and hit people. I'm a big eater and can put down almost as much (and as quickly) as mommy can! I drink milk out of a cup and I have only had one spill. I use a dessert spoon and salad fork to eat since the kid silverware doesn't hold enough for my big mouth. I can climb the stairs one at a time and love jumping off ledges and stairs and land on two feet (most of the time). I like to pick out my t-shirts (my favorite is my Thomas the Train shirt, Cars, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). I'm growing like a weed - 36.5 inches (90-95 percentile) and 32 lbs 4oz (90-95 percentile). I wear mostly 2-3T clothes and size 7 shoes.
I go to the Green Lake Wading pool almost everyday since the temperature has been in the 90s this week. I love to play with buckets and water guns that squirt water high in the sky. At swim lessons, I can climb out of the pool and jump in far (to the black line) and hold my breath and go underwater. I'm learning how to kick and reach and pull and can't wait to go to Balsam Lake in September. I love reading books before bed (my new favorites are "Goodnight Gorilla", "Good Night Spot", "Big Wheels", "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" and "Under the Sea") and I frequently fall asleep with one over my head. I learned how to climb in and out of the crib this month and so I think I might graduate to a toddler bed soon. I'm also very curious about the potty and I help flush it and I like to sit on it but we haven't quite got the timing down where I actually go on the potty. Maybe soon?
Our wonderful nanny, Algena, is going back to school this fall so Elliot and I are going to start at Janet's Day Care, an in-home day care only eight block from our house, in September. They go for field trips to a community garden and plant a pumpkin patch that we get to pick from in October. We get to go to the zoo and to the library and so much more, I can't wait (but we will miss our nanny very very much)!
