Women's Rights = Human Rights

Womxn's March Unfortunately, I was unable to make it down to Judkins Park in Seattle for the  Womxn's March on Saturday January 21st. Over 175,000 people attended the march in Seattle, many of them good friends and neighbors; globally, there were 673 marches with over 4 million people in dozens of cities and towns around the globe - from Nome,  Alaska to Antarctica , Nigeria to New Zealand. There has never been a march on this scale in our history! It was peaceful and with a message: women's rights are human rig hts,  regardless of a woman’s race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, sexual identity, gender expression, economic status, age or disability.  I re member learning about some of these issues when I was in high school. Raised in a white, upper middle class, suburban, conservative area in Minnesota, I admit I was a bit sheltered and unaware of many of these issues that affect so many people.   Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays 'Cause no matter how far away you roam When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze For the holidays you can't beat home, sweet home! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to Marit, Happy birthday to you! Our baby girl turned two! Birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candle She is following closely in her brother's footsteps (see Theo's 2nd birthday post here ). She is very tall for her age, 36.25 inches (95th percentile) and 31.2 lbs (90-95th percentile). She passed her two-year well child check with flying colors (except Mommy and Daddy don't brush her teeth twice a day - does anyone do that?) Her vocabulary has exploded over the past few weeks and easily has over 100 words with up to 3 word sentences. She has better manners than her brother, always saying, "Peas" for please , and "Dak-oo" for thank you at the dinner table. She gives the best hugs and kisses and always walks with me out to the front door when I'm leaving for work and gives an extra hug before I actually leave. "Bye-bye Mommy, of-oo", which means I love yo
