When you're running down to first...

Image
Mommy and I playing in the park above Larcomar, the big shopping mall in the cliff above the ocean. Did you know diarrhea is genetics...it runs in your jeans! "When you’re running down to first and you feel something burst…diarrhea! Diarrhea!"* Well I suppose you know what this post is going to be about! I guess this is what happens when you drink the tap water, eat ceviche and anticuchos and enjoy a pisco sour or two… just kidding! That’s what Mommy does and she’s fine but I, on the other hand, have the runs. I have gone through twice as many diapers in the past four days as I usually do and my bottom is quite pink. It's painful to wipe my bottom and so mommy washes me off in the tub. So far don’t have a fever and I have been drinking lots of pedialyte (so much that we ran out of our supply and had to buy more). I’m eating fine, playing with all the kiddos at the various parks and I’m sure it will go away soon (or else Mommy might send me back with Dadd

Summertime in Lima

Eating  churros con chocolate  at Manolo's...mmm! Mommy and I are getting settled in our apartment in Miraflores, an upscale and popular neighborhood in Lima, Peru. We have our routine - we get up around 8:30am, eat breakfast (eggs with ham and cheese), and play until my nanny, Nora, comes around 9. I know this is not a good sign and so I stand in front of the door crying/screaming so that Mommy can't go to work (but somehow she still manages to leave). I get over it quickly (but I know it breaks Mommy's heart) and I go back to playing with my new toys (a shopping cart with plastic food, finger puppets, lego duplos, balls, and plastic water bottles) and then I take a long nap around noon. Mommy comes home around 5pm and I can't wait to get outside and go play at one of the five playgrounds within one mile of our place. The weather is nice and hot here and I can mostly just run around in my diaper in the apartment. We don't have air conditioning but Mommy bou

A wild ride

What a wild ride! By Mommy Whoever thought a 5-hour flight from Seattle to Atlanta and then another 7-hour flight from Atlanta to Lima with an 18-month old was a good idea… oh wait, that was me! For the record, the intentions were great but the execution was left something to be desired; it was rough. It all started last week when I checked our flight status and discovered we didn’t have any seats assigned. I called Delta to discover that ALL of our flights were completely booked but I was assured we would have a seat once we arrived at the airport. It was not looking good for my secret hopes and dreams of getting an extra seat for Theo and I start regretting the decision not to purchase and extra seat for him (even though kids under two are free) and dreading the trip altogether. SEA-ATL We woke up at 4am to embark on our nearly 24-hour journey to the southern hemisphere. We made it out of the house only 15 minutes late and shortly thereafter we had to turn back beca

Snow Mountain Ranch - A Winter Wonderland

Image
Sleigh bells ring Are you listening In the lane Snow is glistening A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight Walking in a winter wonderland The view outside of our cabin at Snow Mountain Ranch We had a wonderful vacation in Snow Mountain Ranch in Winter Park, Colorado last week. It was great to finally get to play in the snow (except my hands got a little cold). Mommy and Daddy loved the nine inches of fresh powder that fell one night so they could go snowboarding with Uncle Eric, Auntie Annie and Grandpa. I mostly kept Grandma and Great Auntie Rita entertained at the pool and around the cabin while they made dinner for the 12 of us every night. We celebrated both Christmas and Mommy's big 30th birthday, which meant I got to open even more presents! A great time was had by all (except Uncle Dan who was galavanting around India).  Walking (more like wobbling) on the deck to go play in the snow I love sledding! Ready Set   Throw
