Museum of Science and Industry Christmas display
|
Well now that it is March and the snow is finally starting to melt, I decided that I should get the Christmas blog updated. It was wonderful to be home in Minnesota so we could spend Christmas with both families this year. It had been years since we were in Minnesota for Christmas! We had a lovely weekend in December at the Pastorius cabin where we made lots of Christmas cookies, opened presents, make ornaments, went sledding and ice skating and celebrated both Marit and Mommy's birthday. Then we flew to Chicago and had a wonderful week in with the Benziger family for Christmas. Mommy had just finished her MPH thesis and felt like she was actually on vacation for the first time in a very long time. We spent a night downtown Chicago at the condo so we could go out to a nice dinner and ate dim sum in Chinatown. We visited the Museum of Science and Industry and wandered through the amazing mirror maze room at least four times, watched the model train go from Chicago to Seattle, saw the baby chicks hatch out of eggs, played on the climbing wall and with the water feature and visited the coal mine. We went to the Kohl's Children's museum and the Chicago Botanic Gardens and saw their holiday model train display and intricate natural cityscape display. Santa found the kids at the Benziger house and they opened presents for the second time. That night the Aurora Benziger family came over and we have family Christmas and opened presents for the third time. We are eager to see where Maya decides to go to college next year. Apparently Macalester is too far north for her but we tried ;) It was a very fun and relaxing trip and look forward to going back again soon! When we returned home, we had more presents to open under our tree. We had finally recovered from all the holiday travel and now it is spring break and spring is on it's way (hopefully)!
