Phinneywood photo journal

Seattle is beautiful in the spring and summer. The flowers bloom, sun is shining, days are long, and neighborhood is fun and vibrant. We have lots of great memories of Seattle and we will miss our friends, our weekly trips to the PCC and Fred Meyer, Miss Janet's wonderful preschool, Ridge Pizza, Top Ten Toys, Red Mill Burgers, Pho Tan Brothers, Phinney Market and Pub, Tico Rico, Din Tai Fung, Gorditos, Mr. Gyro, Coyle's Bakery, Bluebird Ice Cream, Duck Island's fried chicken, Beth's cafe, the P-patch garden, Green Lake wading pool, rhodedendron's blooming, Zeek's pizza, Musashi sushi, the UW coffee cart, Starbucks, Volunteer Park Cafe, Bakery Nouveau, microbrews, Carkeek park, Golden Gardens, Ballard Locks, Woodland Park Zoo, Portland, Vancouver, Whistler, Mount Rainier and so much more!

I will miss the mountains and the Puget Sound but I won't miss the random Saturday bumper to bumper traffic on I-5 coming back from hiking in the Cascades. I will miss the beautiful spring flowers but I won't miss the endless winter showers. I will miss taking the ferries for weekend get-aways but I won't miss sitting in the long ferry lines for up to four hours. I will miss scooting with the kids around Green Lake but I won't miss carrying Marit and her scooter 0.5 mi home because Marit says, "I can't walk. I can't do it." I will miss biking to work year round but I won't miss biking up the hills. I will miss the ability to play outdoor 11v11 co-rec soccer (except I haven't played much in the past year because of my schedule). I will miss sitting on our patio listening to the sound of the crackling pine cones opening on a warm day but I won't miss picking up the hundreds of cones in the 5 gallon buckets after they fall down. Most of all, I will miss all the lovely people we got to know over the past six years, especially thank you to our PEPS groups. Moving away is always bittersweet but as this chapter of our life is coming to an end, we are ready to start a new chapter in Duluth, Minnesota.

Here are some pics I collected over our last few months in Seattle to help us remember our friends and the old 'hood. I didn't get a chance to capture everything because you always think you'll come back one last time before you leave but then you never do...oh well. We'll have to come visit again soon!
