Christmas 2016

Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam

When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze

For the holidays you can't beat home, sweet home!
At home for the holidays this year!

The little elf is excited to open his presents on Christmas Day!
We were fortunate to have Grandma and Grandpa Benziger come visit for Thanksgiving and then the Pastorius clan come for Marit's birthday. So while we saw most of the relatives this season, we were sad to miss the Aurora Benziger clan and Eric Weber. We stayed in Seattle this year and had a small family Christmas. We visited Santa and Theo had a whole "laundry list" of toys to tell Santa and Marit was terrified.

Mommy has been working a lot (12 days on, two off, 12 on, two off, etc. with 80 hours/week) for the past few months and she needed a vacation and to spend time with the kiddos so she stayed home this week while Daddy worked. We Facetimed with the Pastorius and Benziger families but it wasn't quite the same as being together. Maybe we'll see them next year!

Theo was a bit concerned that Santa wouldn't come this year because he had not been on his best behavior (hitting and kicking his sister, being grumpy and pouting all the time, slamming doors, talking about putting people in jail and killing them, including Santa (and Mommy and Daddy warned him that "He sees you when your sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he know if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake!"). However, Grandma Pastorius told him that she talked to Santa and he said that Theo was on his nice list and would be making a trip to his house, and sure enough he did! He made special dark chocolate brownies for Santa because Mommy and Daddy ate all the cookies and Santa ate them all up!

Theo's highlights included his new dominoes set from Uncle Dan, a new winter jacket, dinosaurs, kids telescope and outer space interactive tablet from the Benziger's, a slinky and Disney Planes movie characters from Santa, light saber and Marble run from Grandma and Grandpa Pastorius, and LeapFrog LeapStart tablet from Annie and Eric. Marit loves her new pink scooter, suitcase, winter jacket, hat and mittens, bath toys, PJs, angry bird shoes that light up, MagnaTiles, and books.
