Eating churros con chocolate at Manolo's...mmm! |
Mommy and I are getting settled in our apartment in Miraflores, an upscale and popular neighborhood in Lima, Peru. We have our routine - we get up around 8:30am, eat breakfast (eggs with ham and cheese), and play until my nanny, Nora, comes around 9. I know this is not a good sign and so I stand in front of the door crying/screaming so that Mommy can't go to work (but somehow she still manages to leave). I get over it quickly (but I know it breaks Mommy's heart) and I go back to playing with my new toys (a shopping cart with plastic food, finger puppets, lego duplos, balls, and plastic water bottles) and then I take a long nap around noon. Mommy comes home around 5pm and I can't wait to get outside and go play at one of the five playgrounds within one mile of our place.
The weather is nice and hot here and I can mostly just run around in my diaper in the apartment. We don't have air conditioning but Mommy bought not one but two fans on the first day to help cool us down so we could sleep at night. We also bought a stroller on the first day and it broke three days later so we had to return it and get a new one. Mommy says if you think things in the States are expensive for kids, everything is three times more expensive here (since it all comes from the US). It's crazy!
Last weekend we went to the beach and pools at the Country Club El Bosque, an hour south of Lima, with Romina and her mom. We had a wonderful time; swimming in the salt water pool, playing in the sand, and getting knocked over by a wave in the ocean.
I've met many new friends at the park and kids call me "Rubio (blondie)" and sometimes they like to touch my hair, too. I speak only English to my nanny and she only speaks Spanish but we seem to be communicating ok. Mommy has lots of projects that she is working on but since I stay up until 9:30pm (I'm still on Pacific time) and it is hard for her to get much work done at home. We also don't have internet yet so I have her undivided attention, which I love! The only problem is that I miss Daddy very much and we can't Skype with him but he will be coming in a few short weeks.
Here are some photos from our trip so far, enjoy!
