Weekend with the ladies!

Seth went to Minnesota for the weekend to celebrate Art Errickson and Kate Bronson's wedding and so Theo and I had lots of quality time with various friends and family who came to help out! First, my Macalester friends and soccer teammates Annie Borton and Cara Goff came to visit for a few days from Portland and NYC, respectively. The last time we were together was in at my wedding in Costa Rica and before that was in the Peruvian Amazon (recall our blog entries: "Vamos a la selva" and "Four Blonds Take Peru"). We had a great time visiting Ballard's Chittenden Locks and watching the King Salmon running in the fish ladder. They were also tagging some of the fish for research and watching these men with these HUGE 20+ pound fish was very entertaining!. We spent the rest of the afternoon sitting by the Puget Sound admiring the Olympic Mountains at Golden Gardens.
Then my sister Anne and my mom flew into town as they knew that Seth would be away and I would enjoy having some company. The five girls and Theo spent the day walking around Volunteer Park and going to the Pike Place Market and shopping. Unfortunately it was a scorching 95 degrees and the little man got overheated (bad mamma!) but he recovered well when we stopped in Nordstrom's who had air conditioning. We ended the day with a tour of Theo Chocolate Factory in Fremont, a local organic and fair trade specialty chocolate producer with lots of delicious chocolates for us to taste. The head forced us to stay inside on Friday when it was 95 again in front of fans with the shades drawn to try to keep the house as cool as possible. A few old friends from Minnesota stopped by to meet Theo - Meg Reynolds-Gooch and Anne O'Connor - and then my co-resident Anastasia Grivoyannis stopped by to hold the little man before heading to work. So in one day he had attracted eight ladies (all of whom were totally hitting on him) - not bad for a 5 week old! Seth's jealous, I can tell.  ;)
Today, Anne, JoAnn, Theo and I took the Bainbridge Island Ferry to visit the Bloedel Reserve and Pouslbo, a historic Norwegian port town on the Kitsap Penninsula. We had a relaxing day wandering around the beautiful gardens and then strolling along Front Street and the many cute shops in Poulsbo. Overall, a wonderful weekend and I am very thankful that Theo and I have so many wonderful ladies in our lives but we missed Seth too!

We enjoyed a beer and fish and chips by the Poulsbo marina at sunset before heading back to catch the ferry home (we were the last car on).

SUPER BABY to the rescue (but first I must take a nap because entertaining all these ladies is exhausting)!
