Winter in the Northland 2018
Theo ready to go at his first ski race |
Theo had his third ski race today at Chester bowl. It's crazy to think that one month ago he was on the bunny hill trying to pass the cone test to get to go on the chair lift for the first time. He finished his first race in 4th place. I was so proud of him for being brave enough to enter his first race (and so excited that he got a metal for finishing and didn't finish last). He loved it and wanted more so last week he competed again in near zero temperatures but this time he finished 1st and got a big blue medal! Today, he had his third race and he finished 2nd and got a silver medal! Now he says needs to get third place so he can get a bronze medal. ;) Marit enjoys watching her brother but isn't so sure what she thinks about skiing. Next week we head out to Vancouver and Whistler for a week of skiing and snowboarding. They have had over 900 centimeters of snow (357 inches or nearly 30 feet)! We are excited to show Theo what a real mountain is like but also slightly terrified that our speed demon might get lost as he skis like a man on mission with his only goal to get to the bottom as fast as he can. Here he is on his first run down the big hill once he passed the cone test:
