Fall

The morning air is cool and crisp and biking to work requires gloves and a fleece, which tells me fall has arrived. Apple and pumpkin flavored treats are all around (especially at Trader Joes), which means it must be fall! Luckily for us, the warm streak has continued here in the Pacific Northwest and we welcome the sunshine the past two weekends for our pumpkin picking adventures!
First, we went to the neighborhood P-patch, a community garden that Theo and his daycare buddies from Ms. Janet's helped plant. Back in May, they each planted pumpkin seeds and got to water them and watch them grow into little plants and then put them in the ground. Harvest day was this past weekend and Theo picked the biggest pumpkin but it was too heavy for him to carry. The kids had fun running around and the adults had fun getting to know one another. Today, Theo's PEPS group had a rendezvous at Fox Hollow Farms in Issaquah, WA. It was about a 45 minute drive to a small but wonderful farm where Theo got to pet the goats, sheep, pigs, geese, chickens, rabbits, run through a haystack maze and end up in a pool of corn kernels, jump in a bouncy house, ride his first pony, ride on the little red train (kids only), pick out a pumpkin and watch some salmon swim up the stream.
Updates
Marit just had her second bottom tooth pop up last week and no longer has the one-tooth smile. She is babbling all the time and can say, "Mama" and "Dada". She can cruise pretty quick on all fours, especially when the baby gates are open or when Theo leaves the bathroom doors open. She will be 10 months old on the 12th and is wearing 18 month clothes and size 4/5 shoes. She loves her parent-tot swim class (especially the warm hot tub at the end). She watches her brother like a hawk and enjoys splashing in the bath tub with him but then looks terrified when he starts splashing or dumping water over her head.
Theo went to his best friend, Elliot's, 3rd birthday party this weekend and insisted that he write his own name on the outside of the card since the present was from him. I let him write it and to my surprise, he actually wrote (mostly legibly) "T-E-H-O" which is pretty close to "Theo". I was super impressed, especially considering Seth and I had nothing to do with it. He then proceeded to convince Elliot to open the present early and peak inside while the adults weren't looking. Silly boys! It's amazing how smart these kids are! They likes saying, "Hey guys, where are you?" when he wakes up in the morning. He also has been having more nightmares, most recently he woke up crying and we couldn't understand why and then finally he said, "My don't want these teeth to fall out." We forgot we had told him last week about how when you "lose teeth" the tooth fairy comes. He still loves his Thomas the Train toys and Lightning McQueen and Mater themed toys and books. He's started playing board games, including Sequence for Kids and matching games. We're working on teaching him some simple Spanish for our upcoming trips to Costa Rica for our five year anniversary in February and to Mexico City in June for a cardiology conference.
Grandma and Grandpa Benziger arrived today and are going to watch Theo this week. We look forward to having them spend time here and will have another update next week about their adventures with the not-so-little-man. Enjoy!
