"Being sister and brother means being there for each other." |
Daddy went to the airport to go visit some friends in Boulder, CO and Theo and I got to spend the whole weekend with just Mommy (or Mommy had to be a single parent all weekend). We kept her busy by visiting Theo and my friends [Siri (4) and Kel (14 mo), Cooper (2.5) and Charlotte (4 mo), Elliot (2.5), Henry (3), and Theo's PEPS friends - Otis, Rhys, Lilian, Nico, Henry and Oliver] and going to some of Seattle's finest parks (Green Lake Park, Alki Beach, and Carkeek Park). The sun was shining and Mommy even got a little sunburned. Theo missed Daddy and asked everyday if we could go to the airport to pick him up and when it was finally time, Theo wanted to bring his suitcase since we were "going to the airport." Silly Theo, what the heck!

Marit's 5 months development
I'm babbling a lot know - some high pitched, some coo-ing, and some giggles. I found my toes and love pulling on them. I love crinkle paper and the crinkle sounds on some of the animals on my activity mat. I also fit in the jumparoo and can spin the rattle but haven't figured out how to jump quite yet. I've started wearing 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers. I can hold my head up well but I haven't quite figured out how to roll over yet but can turn 180 or 360 degrees on my back. I go to bed in the crib, which is in my new room that I share with Theo, and I wake up 1-4 times a night (depending on how long Mommy was gone during the day). I still refuse to take a bottle but I started eating purees. My first food was bananas and I literally went bananas for it! Then Mommy tried to give me peas, uck! I spit them all out.

Theo's 2 3/4 years development
"My getting bigger!" Theo says, and he's right! He had to get new PJs, size 5T, as he keeps getting taller and taller and his appetite continues to grow (who knows how we are going to afford feeding him when he's a teenager). Theo is a pro on his Kick scooter. He flies around the neighborhood and weaves in and out of people on the trail around Green Lake. We had to replace his handle bar and break because they broke and now it's as good as new! He's hesitant to ride his kick bike because "it's too tippy" but maybe this summer he'll try again. Theo loves his stomp rocket that he got from Uncle Dan. He's also learning about sharing it as it has been a big hit among his toddler friends. He has lots of friends in the neighborhood. Henry, who just turned 3, lives on the street behind us and invited us to a potluck/bonfire on Alki Beach on Saturday. It was great to play on the beach and meet some new friends and reconnect with old friends who work at the Gates Foundation. Elliot, his old nanny share buddy and now daycare buddy, just moved a few blocks up on Phinney Ridge and kindly invited Theo over after daycare on Thursday when Mommy was stuck in clinic until 6:45pm. We also went scooting to his house on Saturday and by the time we got home, Theo was pooped and napped for almost three hours. Theo continues to enjoy swim lessons and started wearing goggles to help him see underwater. He loves the Curious George and Little Critter books (probably because he can relate to the mischievous main characters). Theo makes me laugh when he splashes in the bath tub. I try to kick and splash him too but his splashes are bigger. He also helps Mommy clean me by pouring water on me (but not on my face). Theo was eager to go to a Sounders game and when our nanny canceled last minute, his wish came true! He loved eating stadium snacks, a hot dog and popcorn, and the fireworks that went off when the Sounders scored. He wanted noise-canceling headphones because he thought it was too loud and he burned off a lot of energy running up and down the ramps to the nosebleed section. He can't wait until the next game!
