Our first hike of 2014

The rain stayed away for Memorial Day weekend and we were able to get some house work done and go for a hike with our good friends, Margot and Aric and their two kids, Siri and Kel. We went for a 4 mile hike called Tradition Lake Loop at the base of Tiger Mountain. It was flat so Theo and Siri could walk for most of it (they spent about 50% of the time in the carrier and 50% picking up sticks and rocks). It was great to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. We are headed to Portland this weekend to meet up with some Macalester friends and go hiking along the Columbia River Gorge. The weather is supposed to be in the 80s and sunny, can't wait!

22 Month Development
Theo has recently started to give everyone and every thing kisses. He kisses his food and then the fork, his little doggy before bed, Mommy and Daddy in the morning, as we leave for work and like 10 times when we get home. Seth said he even kissed the fence yesterday! I'm not sure what to make of it but those red luscious lips are hard to resist so I'm not complaining. He is really talking more now and loves to copy sounds, like the sirens on fire trucks, and words. He is becoming more opinionated as well and likes to pick out his clothes and tell you which shirts he doesn't want to wear. He loves to go swimming and is finishing his second parent-tot class at the local pool and the teacher said he could move up to the 3 year old class but we figured we'll sign him up for one more parent-tot class and when he turns 2 then we'll push him up. We moved his plates and cups to the bottom drawer in the kitchen and he loves to pick out the color of the cup and plate for dinner and closes the drawer with his foot like his 6'6" dad. It's pretty cute! Isn't it amazing how they imitate you? He got a new scooter and he's getting better riding it and not just pushing it around the alley. He's still a little short for his bike that Auntie Annie bought him for Christmas but I'm sure he'll grow into it this summer. He still loves his Thomas the train table but Match Box cars are a close second. He loves reading lift-the-flap and pop-up books and Little Blue Truck is becoming a nightly favorite. He had a little bout of hand, foot and mouth disease a few weeks ago that he got from a kid in our PEPS group. It only lasted a few days but he gave it to the other boy, Elliot, in our nanny share, who had it real bad :(  At least he's not in daycare where he'd pick up a different bug every week!
