The last "fin de semana" in Lima

These past seven weeks have flown by! It started a bit rocky with the long flight and the Spanish-speaking nanny but we've all settled into a great routine and we are definitely going to miss our home-away-from-home. Having Seth come visit was definitely a highlight but last fin de semana (weekend) we went to the Parque de la Reserva where they have over 20 water fountains, including water tunnels, geyers, and one's for kids, and a train to tour the park. I think Theo was in heaven! He LOVED it!
Then yesterday we went to another country club in Lima with Tato, Marisella and Nicolas Arambulo and Theo couldn't get enough of the water. I had to trick him into getting out so we could go back to their place for a farewell BBQ. It's been such a wonderful trip. We are so grateful for the hospitality of the Tejada's and Arambulo's as this trip would not have been nearly as successful without their support. I also want to thank the CRONICAS cohort study investigators who allowed me to collaborate with them and we were able to write a few manuscripts (and hopefully they will be published soon).
Taxi drivers ask me, "Do you like Peru?" And I always reply, "I love it! The food, the climate, and the people!" I'm not sure when we'll be back next but I could always go for some ceviche and a maracuya sour so hopefully it won't be too long!
Chau chau Romina, Olenka, Pierina, Bruno, los Arambulos, Nora, Maki, Mili, Antonio y Jaime! Gracias por todo! Nos vemos!
Con mucho amor,
Katie y Teo
P.S. We can't wait to see Daddy in 2 days!
"Mom, look at that fountain!" |

Excited by the water |
Where did the water go? |
Running away from the water |
Entering the water tunnel |
Jumping in the water tunnel (his third time running through it). |
Checking out the train |
Touching the train/steam engine! |
In the train |
After our ride on the train (he held on to our tickets and wouldn't give them up). He loved the train! |
Jumping in the ball pit at KFC with the big boys for Santiago's 9th birthday (black shirt). Theo spent nearly 2 hours in the ball pit and was drenched with sweat when he was done. |
