Grandma and Grandpa Benziger with Daddy and Theo at Green Lake |
We had a wonderful visit from Grandma and Grandpa Benziger over the past three weeks. Grandma got to hold me a lot while Mommy was back at work doing her MPH classes and cardiology clinic. We got out of the house a few times - to the park, the aquarium, and to a delicious french bakery in West Seattle. Here are some pictures from our trip and we can't wait to see them again in Chicago in June!

Marit 2 month development
I had my two-month check up and weighed in at 13 lbs. 4.5oz. (>97th percentile) and 23 inches (75-90th percentile). I got all my vaccinations (but unfortunately I'm too young to get the measles vaccine so I hope everyone else gets theirs). I've outgrown the 3 month clothes and am now in 6 month clothes. Grandma couldn't believe how much I changed in the time that they were here. Not only did I grow, but I started following people across the room, smiling ear to ear, and coo-ing. Grandma and I had lots of very sophisticated conversations on the couch while Mommy was out. I slept 6 hours one night and then have been up 3-6 times a night ever since. I go to bed in the co-sleeper but I usually end up in the bed around 2am and like to cuddle and so it's hard for Mommy to get me back down in the bassinet. I also refuse to take a pacifier or bottle. Mommy tricked me a few times when I was only 2 weeks old but now I am smarter and I spit it out. She's tried about 5 different bottle brands, formula and breast milk, hot and cold, nothing will get past me except the real stuff! She even tried spoon feeding and cup feeding me, too. It's hopeless - I'm just stubborn and I just cry until she comes home from school to feed me. The doctor said that I can afford to skip a feeding or two (since I'm above the 97th percentile) but I wish she didn't have to be gone for so long! Since I was breech, I had a hip ultrasound to check for hip dysplasia and it wasn't completely normal so now I have to do it again at 12 weeks (but the doctor says my exam is normal so fingers crossed).

Theo 2.5 year development
Grandpa kept big brother Theo busy and would walk him to and from Janet's day care nine blocks away. It was good exercise for the both of them. Theo is very nice to me and lets me snuggle with him in his lofted bed. He turns on the music box and puts the blanket over me. He loves his parent-tot swim lessons at the Ballard pool every Saturday and is very confident in the water (if only he could learn how to float). I can't wait to join him when I turn 6 months. Theo speaks in big sentences now (6-8 words) and asks "Why?" all the time. Mommy and Daddy have to watch what they say because he is like a sponge, like when Mommy was hungry for lunch today and Daddy said, "Patience Mommy, patience," and Theo repeated, "Yes, patience Mommy, patience." Little sh*t. He loves his tall-stacker peg board, his Mack the Truck and Lightning McQueen cars, and his Thomas the Train set. He is still working on potty training and will go when prompted but doesn't go on his own consistently yet. He's a good eater and always asks, "What's that Mommy? My want some." (He says "My" rather than "I" a lot.) He also refuses to call milk, "Milk," and insists that it is "Bilk," which drives Daddy nuts. His favorite foods are eggs, pancakes, avocado, pineapple, turkey, Pirate booty, cheerios, Mac N Cheese, and apples. He's a good cook and likes to help mix the batter for brownies and pancakes and is always curious what's going on in the kitchen. He weighs at least 37 lbs. (according to our home scale) and is now in 4T clothes and will be in a booster car seat in no time. NBA, watch out!
